The District Institute of Tourism (IDT) is a public, local institution attached to the District Department of Economic Development (SDDE), created by the Agreement 275 of February 27, 2007, which seeks the implementation of policies, plans and programs for tourist promotion in order to place the Capital District as a sustainable tourist destination.
MISSION
To design and carry out actions to strengthen and promote the Capital District as a sustainable and attractive tourist destination, in order to transform tourism into a contributive and decisive aspect of the economic, social, competitive and sustainable development of the city.
VISION
To place Bogota as a sustainable tourist destination by 2012, capable of contributing to its economic and social development, while interacting with other member institutions of the Tourism Management System through the implementation of the Public Tourism Policy.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBLIGATIONS
A. To promote the tourism industry in Bogota.
B. To implement and supervise the Capital District’s tourism public policy.
C. To develop and implement tourism programs, plans and strategies.
D. To promote the development of business tourism.
E. To design and lead strategies and mechanisms to materialize the District’s tourism policies.
F. To promote and coordinate the development of programs and plans according to the guidelines established by the District Department of Economic Development.
g. To implement, supervise, coordinate and asses plans, programs and projects for the promotion of national and international tourism to the Capital District.
H. To assess and monitor the impact arising from the implementation of tourism policies.
I. To coordinate the planning, arrangement and establishment of strategic partnerships for the implementation of these plans and programs.
J. To promote environmental management issues in tourism projects.
K. To promote tourism developments by local entities of the Capital District.
L. To encourage the establishment, standardization and training of tourism service providers in Bogota.
M. To coordinate actions with other competent institutions aimed at the protection and promotion of cultural heritage sites involved in tourism.
